his week, the Cardano NFT column’s guest is Machiavellic, a next-generation NFT-driven play to earn dungeon crawler MMO.
This initiative serves as a reference point for NFTs on Cardano. Every week, someone will be invited to answer questions and provide an update from the Cardano community.
We will be answering simple and technical questions since many of our readers are not familiar with crypto.
Cardano NFT project: Machiavellic
Cardano NFT Project Machiavellic seeks to address two critical problems in the gaming industry.
We appreciate your time. Thank you for taking the time to introduce your team. Where are you from? What are your backgrounds?
Our diverse team comprises people from all over the globe, specializing in solving critical problems in game development projects like this.
Two senior marketing professionals, two industry veterans with more than 15+ years of experience, a Cardano specialist and an award-winning writer/director for game lore and animated films, plus a 3D modeler, are all part of our team.
What is Machiavellic exactly?
Why have you chosen Cardano’s blockchain for your project,
Machiavellic, a next-generation NFT-driven Play and Earn MMO dungeon crawler MMO is designed to address two significant issues in the gaming industry.
- It is a game that does not rely on predatory gacha/loot box mechanics or aggressive microtransactions encouraging reckless whaling behavior.
- Web2 gamers can now connect to the Web3 community through the abstraction of the blockchain tech behind Web3. This allows non-crypto gamers seamless participation in the game.
These are the two pillars that will ultimately allow Machiavellic success. Many people aren’t convinced that blockchain or crypto can be used in gaming. They believe it’s a way to solve a problem. Machiavellic, however, is an excellent example of a game that uses blockchain tech in a way that is crucial for its existence.
Here’s a quick example:
When the game starts, you and a small group of friends are the first to defeat major raid bosses. The blockchain now records the gear you’re wearing at that time. Your username can be attached to the unique NFT gear if you decide to sell it. It will be forever associated with the gear that defeated the raid boss the first time.
You could argue that this is possible in games now, but when the game shuts down, all that history is gone. However, once something is uploaded to the blockchain, it lives on with the gamers for as long as they have it.
Machiavellic uses blockchain technology to make the game possible
Cardano was chosen for its unique community and the exciting developments planned for the future of the blockchain. We can also protect players because it is not custodial. Players can keep their assets in their wallets if desired, which makes hacking against a central repository impossible.
It isn’t easy to build an MMO game. What are your strategies for attracting investors to this MMO game?
Building a game, even an MMO, can be a daunting task. To mitigate this risk, we created vertical slices of our overall game using smaller, simpler, and more manageable mini-games that will contain some of the main functionality.
These mini-games are called Core Experiences. We will release the first Core Experience, an endless wave Tower Defense game (TD). This will provide us with valuable data regarding PvE. While the list of different skill sets and gear will not be exhaustive, it will give us enough information to understand better how players plan to maximize their runs and if that is okay.
As the project becomes more complex and the Core Experiences include more components of the final game, we will scale up the team. This gradual building of the unit allows us to transition early employees to mentoring roles to quickly get them up to speed and into the production pipeline.
The final step in the development journey is where all Core Experiences are completed. This will tie everything together to create a seamless experience. This is also the moment we can start the project’s second most crucial aspect, the idea of blockchain abstraction.
Machiavellic, a project that bridges Web2 and Web3 gamers, is ultimately Machiavellic. This game is open to all, regardless of how much they know about crypto and its blockchain tech.
Web3 natives still have all the capabilities of a blockchain game, including the ability to mint characters and gear and transfer tokens from and to the project. We will guide how to withdraw tokens and help them buy-in.
Some of the Machiavellic’s first NFTs
You stated that you support decentralization and work with single-pool operators. What is your plan for cooperation?
Our ethos encourages single-pool operators to succeed. We will explore all the popular routes: first, an ISPO for partner pool, then a Machiavellic Staking App that will reward game NFT holders who stake with partner pools. This will later be implemented into the game.
These are all great ways to lift an SPO. However, we will also integrate our partner pool into Machiavellic’s marketing and social media strategy. For example, we can assign player factions to SPOs to increase engagement within our community. This will ensure that game fans are constantly exposed to these pools and encourage them to delegate their money to their dreams.
Our SPO partners are always welcome to offer more ideas. We are always open to discussing the possibility of a mutually beneficial plan if it is reasonable.
Bravo! Are there any closing remarks? Is there a way to follow the progress of Machiavellic?
